Ingredient Notes

10 Minute English Muffin Pizza Recipe (2)
  • English muffins- you can use regular, whole wheat, or gluten-free
  • Sauce - we use either pizza sauce or pesto
  • Veggies- our faves are finely chopped bell peppers, mushrooms, shredded brussels sprouts, sliced zucchini and red onions. No need to pre-cook them!
  • Cheese - a must to hold the ingredients on- we used mozzarella but cheddar would work as well.
  • Meat - go for small meat slices or chop it up. We used pepperoni sticks sliced thinly.
  • Spices- we like a little sprinkling of basil on our pizzas. Totally optional!

Step by Step Directions

Prepare English Muffins

Arrange the English muffin halves on a baking sheet. Spread 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce on each half, followed by 1-1.5 tablespoons of shredded cheese.

Broil

Broil for 2-4 minutes, or until cheese is melted and edges of English muffin pizza are crispy. Enjoy!

Meal Prep

  1. Cook, then cool completely before storing
  2. Place bits of wax or parchment paper between the pizzas to keep them from sticking together
  3. Place in a freezer bag and freeze upright to keep the toppings in place
  4. Thaw completely before reheating in the microwave, oven or air fryer so you can heat them evenly

Tips for perfect pizzas

  • broiler - we are using the broiler setting on our oven; if you are not in North America, this may be called the 'grill'
    • avoid lining your pan with parchment as it may burn under the broiler
    • make sure you use sturdy sheet pans that will not warp
  • to toast or not to toast- some recipes call for toasting your english muffin before adding the toppings, but I haven't found that to be necessary as these pizzas still end up nice and crispy

Alternative Cooking Methods

  1. Toaster oven - heat to 400ºF and cook for 2-4 minutes, or until cheese is melted and edges of english muffin are crispy
  2. Air fryer - pre-heat the air fryer to 400ºF for about 5 minutes. Arrange english muffin pizzas in the air fryer basket, and cook the pizzas for 2-4 minutes monitoring closely until the crust is golden and cheese is melted.
  3. Outdoor grill - pre-heat your grill on low heat. Place the English muffin pizzas on a grill rack or veggie grill basket so that they are easier to remove from the grill. Place on the grill and close the lid of the BBQ and cook for 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and english muffin is crispy!

I believe you can, although you might wish to cover them so they don't dry out. I'd try 350°F?
